We’ve had several weddings on the Mother’s Day weekend and with the special day coming up in just a few days, we thought we’d highlight some ways to incorporate moms into your wedding day. Here are some great tips to making your mom feel extra special.
Create a video montage for both the Mother of the Bride and the Mother of the Groom. Be sure to include photos of your childhood leading up to your special day. This is a great way to not only reflect back on your childhood but to bring the two families together. Check out this great tribute to moms we found via Style Me Pretty
Write a special speech for your mothers. What mom doesn’t like to hear their son or daughter speak about their relationship? Let them know that this day is about them too. Having your wedding around Mother’s Day can provide you a great opportunity to show how much you care and value all that they have done for you.
Play a special song to acknowledge all mothers at your reception. Ask the DJ to have all mothers come to the dance floor along with their children (if present) for a special dance. This is a great way to acknowledge all mothers, not just the couple’s moms. Here are a few songs to give you a head start on your song selection.
- I’m Yours by Jason Mraz
- The Best Day by Taylor Swift
- I Wanna Hold Your Hand by The Beatles
- Love Me Do by The Beatles
- In My Daughter’s Eyes by Martina McBride
Honor moms at the ceremony by taking a moment to walk down together as a couple give something special to both mothers. You can provide them with a rose, a small bouquet or a piece of jewelry. Tying your mother into the ceremony can be a great memory for them. We’ve seen several brides opt to have both parents walk them down the aisle to allow the mom to be honored in that special aspect of the ceremony.
There are so many great ways to share your special day with those you love. These are just a few ideas of incorporating your mom into your wedding and should be especially important if you happen to hold your wedding over the Mother’s Day weekend.
We would like to wish our moms a very special Mother’s Day this weekend too! We love you!
