This wedding was held in Hawaii on an absolutely gorgeous day. The couple met while the groom was stationed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton and moved to the island about 2 years ago when he had new orders. The ceremony was a very intimate gathering of friends held on the beach near the Makapu’u Lighthouse, which holds special meaning to the couple because it was one of the first hikes they went on together after moving to Oahu. Thanks to the magic of technology, we were able to Skype the ceremony to some of the couple’s family members that were unable to make it to the ceremony.
The couple had a traditional Hawaiian ceremony, including an exchange of leis in addition to rings. The bride walked down the aisle to Iz’s rendition of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” carrying a bouquet that Jenny created for her. The bouquet was made up of calla lilies, freesia, and hypericum berries as well as a few yellow proteas to give it a more tropical, island feel. The entire bouquet was then encompassed with ti leaves which are believed to bring good luck to the recipient according to Hawaiian folklore.
