If you have started to tackle the daunting task of planning your wedding, you may be feeling a little overwhelmed with all of the details. If you are beginning to worry about how you are going to find enough time to do everything, you may want to consider hiring a wedding planner.
Wedding planners are not a luxury. They can be a huge asset to you and your budget. Fees in the Dayton area can range from a few hundred dollars to several thousand dollars, but the time and money that can be saved by using a wedding planner may be completely worth it.
There are several things you need to do before you begin finding and interviewing wedding planners. These items include:
- Have at least a ballpark estimate of your entire wedding budget
This will help you figure out how much you can afford to pay a planner to help you with the coordination of your wedding. It will also help the planner have an idea of how much money will be available to accomplish everything that you want to have on your special day.
- Prepare a rough guest list
This doesn’t have to be a final guest count but you and your planner need to know whether you are planning a wedding for 50 people or 250 people. This number combined with your budget will help determine the bulk of your decisions (for example a $15,000 budget will go a lot further for a 50 person wedding than it would for a 250 person wedding.)
- Assemble an inspiration binder/folder/board
I recommend going out and buying several wedding magazines, visiting wedding websites, etc. Anything that appeals to you – whether it is a certain color, favor ideas, invitations, dresses, or cakes – should be torn out or printed and placed in your inspiration folder. You and your planner can eventually scatter these on a table and figure out how to make all of the things you like work together in a cohesive way for your wedding. It also helps the planner get to know you and what types of things you like.
